About the Doc
George Rivera didn’t grow up dreaming of corner offices or stock options. He grew up following his dad around job sites, watching him build, shape, and fix things with his hands. But nothing stopped him in his tracks quite like electricity. The way it moved through a building. The thousand ways you could solve one problem. The invisible force that made everything work.
He was born for this. His mom will tell you so.
George completed his electrician training, earned his license early, and landed on a multi-million-dollar project at Orlando International Airport. He was the youngest guy on the crew. No beard, no mustache, and no patience for the way things had always been done. He took charge. He earned respect the hard way. And then, after years of climbing, he walked into his boss’s office and said the words that would change everything.
I’m done. I’m going out on my own.
He drove home that evening and circled his driveway, literally, working up the nerve to tell his wife.
Built Together. From Scratch.
Margarita was eight months pregnant. They had $1,000 in the bank and a house with a slanted foundation. The timing was, by every reasonable measure, terrible.
But George Rivera doesn’t operate by reasonable measures. He operates by conviction.
Margarita didn’t walk away. She leaned in. When childcare fell through just weeks after their son was born, she made the call to leave her own career path and build something with her husband instead. That decision wasn’t easy. It cost her something real. But it also became the foundation of everything Doc Watts is today.
She took on operations. He ran the field. Together, they learned everything on the fly. How to price a job, manage a crew, win a client, and keep the lights on. Neither of them had business training. Neither of them had a playbook. They just refused to quit.
Doc Watts Electric was founded in 2005. Not from a business plan. From guts, faith, and a family with no room to fail.
The Job That Changed Everything
A few years in, a client took a chance on them. A $1 million electrical contract for two buildings near Universal Studios. George had no crew, no equipment, no credit line. He called everyone he knew, including his brother Jonah, and they got to work.
He lived on that job site. Slept there some nights to protect $70,000 worth of copper wiring. Ran the crew from sunup to sundown, seven days a week. And they delivered.
That job didn’t just pay the bills. It announced who Doc Watts was.
From there, the company never looked back. They hired more electricians, bought their first building, and expanded into generators after donating two to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. They realized the need was enormous and growing. Today, Doc Watts has a dedicated generator department, a full office and field team, and over 12,000 square feet of operating space. George still says some days feel like the first day, and he means that as the highest compliment.
We're in the People Business. Electricity Is Just How We Do It.
Doc Watts serves residential homeowners, commercial clients, and industrial operations across Central Florida. From crawling through attics to wiring three-story buildings, our licensed team handles it all. But the job title has never really been “electrician.”
It’s been a problem-solver. Trusted partner. The team that shows up and stays until it’s right.
We approach every project as if it were our own home, our own business, our own timeline. We listen before we act. We show up when we say we will. And when something doesn’t go as planned, we own it and fix it, because that’s what accountable professionals do.
These aren’t talking points. They’re the five values George and Margarita built this company on:
- Go the Extra Mile: Whatever it takes. Always.
- Respect: For our clients, our crew, and every person we serve.
- Accountability: Own your work. Own your mistakes. Keep getting better.
- Customer Focus: Listen first. Act with empathy. Treat every job as if it were your own.
- Dependability: Say what you mean. Do what you say. Show up on time, on task, every time.
Family-Owned. Family-Operated. And Proud of It.
George and Margarita didn’t just build a company. They built it while raising a family, side by side, day by day. That dynamic is embedded in how we operate. Our team isn’t a workforce. It’s a crew of people who take pride in their craft and look out for each other.
We hire people who carry those values. We invest in them. We grow together.
Our mission has always been to do what is professionally, morally, and ethically right, for our clients, our team, and our community. That’s not a tagline. It’s the reason Doc Watts has been trusted by Central Florida homes and businesses for nearly two decades.
